Commander’s Message

Greetings to You All,

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying this great summer weather we have been having.

Our Quartermaster Ken Malone was successful in solidifying a price with the contractor for redoing our parking lot. Work will start on Monday, June 7 and they should be done by Wednesday, June 9. They will be working on certain areas at a time, so the Post will be opennormal hours during the construction.

I hope you have all marked your calendars for our Mortgage Burning party on June 12. There will be great music, food and fun for all. Let’s celebrate!!

As many of you already know, my tenure as your Commander ends on the 20th of this month. It has been an honor and privilege to serve as your Commander for the past 2 years. During my tenure I met a lot of great people and gained valuable information and insight as to the workings of our Post and our VFW organization. My best experiences were meeting and getting more acquainted with you the members of our Post and working with an excellent team of Post, Auxiliary, Riders Group and Canteen personnel.

I have so many people to thank for helping me throughout my term as your Commander, but I want to give special thanks to Ken Malone, Wayne Tuttle and Dale Cloutier who were instrumental in helping us to be an All-State and All-American Post for these past 2 years.

As we go forward with our new Commander John (Moose) Schifone, I know that with all of your continued support, he will make our Post bigger and better than ever.

May you all have a great month of June and I look forward to seeing and visiting with you at the post.

With Respect To You All,

Kenny Vaughan

Commander

VFW Auxiliary President’s Message

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy.

At our last meeting, we had the honor of presenting a $500.00 scholarship to

Cadet Briar Lee of the JROTC. He has graduated from Hudson High School and will

be joining the Air Force.

On May 15 th the auxiliary hosted a USO show featuring JJ Crum and the Almost

Andrew Sisters. What a great time we all had. With the money we earned from

food, raffles, and 50/50, we were able to present the Young Marines of The

Marine Corp League with a $1000.00 donation to help with uniforms, boots and

other miscellaneous items.

On June 12, the post will be hosting a mortgage burning party. They are looking

for volunteers to help with set up, side dishes, and clean up. Anyone interested in

volunteering, there will be a sign-up sheet on the bathroom door by the pool

table. As some of you already know, we keep track of your volunteer hours. When

you reach 100 volunteer hours, the Auxiliary will pay for your Life Time

Membership. If you are already a Life Time Member, you will receive $100.00.

There is no time limit on this.

The Auxiliary meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month at

7:00pm. Dinner and social hour starts at 6:00pm. Hope to see you all there!

I would like to thank all of you who have volunteered your time, and those who

have participated and supported our events. We couldn’t do what we do without

you!

Proudly Serving our Veterans

Sheila Sweatland

Auxiliary President
