Commander’s Message
Greetings to You All,
First off, I want to extend my thanks and gratitude for the well wishes and prayers I have received from all of you. I have really missed coming into the post and visiting with everyone and hopefully the docs will get me to where I can be more mobile soon.
As promised, we now have new entrance doors with really neat logos installed for the post. The canteen doors are push to access if needed and the hall entrance doors will also have push to access installed within the next two weeks. This has been a priority for us to get completed and a big thank you to Dale Cloutier and Bill Katilus for getting this done.
In addition to the doors, we have been wanting to redo the big mural on the stage wall so it has the correct logos for the VFW, Auxiliary and Riders and to also highlight that we are an All-American Post. Kudos again to Dale Cloutier and Bill Katilus for their time and hard work to get this completed.
Our next big project is to remodel the vestibules on both entryways. The interior set of doors will be removed and the old carpet will be replaced with ceramic flooring and the walls will be redone with tongue and grooved pine. This will eliminate the hassle of a second set of doors and provide a more naturally lighted and welcoming entry to our post.
Our goal is to make everyone proud of our post and to provide a friendly and safe environment for you to come and enjoy yourselves.
On a different note, we will have nominations for post officers at our March membership meeting. We will then have any further nominations and then our post election at the April meeting. I would like to encourage all post members to come and participate in electing those who you want to manage our post for the next year.
May you all have a great month of March and I look forward to seeing and visiting with you at the post.
With Respect To You All,
Kenny Vaughan
Commander

VFW Auxiliary President’s Message
Hello everyone,
What a busy month we’ve had here at 4412. At our last meeting, we honored a Young
Marine, Henry Shoep, with a $500.00 scholarship. Henry is 17 years old. He has worked hard
with college credits on top of and early completion of High school credits. Henry has reached
the current rank of Young Marine Staff Sargent and still currently volunteers for community
service at various locations. He has also enlisted in the Marine Corps. He scored 96% on his
ASVAB test, and has been given any MOS of his choice. He is set to ship out in October after
completing his associate’s degree. Thank you to all of you that participated in making Henry and his family feel welcome.
On Feb. 13 th, the 4412 Riders had their annual Valentine’s Day poker run. What a great turn
out. The Riders and the Auxiliary worked side by side to make this event a success. Way to go
team! Our Steak Night Date Night dinner was a great success! JK Crum did a great job
entertaining everyone. We are considering having a once-a-month dinner with entertainment.
Let us know what you think.
On Feb. 17 th, we were honored with a visit from our VFW National Commander, State Commander, and District Commander. The Post and the Auxiliary provided a wonderful lunch in their Honor.
On March 17 th, Post 4412 will be celebrating ST. Patrick’s Day. We will be serving corned
beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and dessert for dinner. There will be music and Raffles. We
will be in need of volunteers for this event. Please watch for signup sheets on the door by the
pool table.
Our Friday night bake sales and 50/50 are doing great! We are always looking for bakers and
volunteers. If interested please see any auxiliary officer.
I would like to thank all of you who have volunteered you time, and those who have participated and supported our events. We couldn’t do what we do without you!
Proudly serving our Veterans,
Sheila Sweatland
