VFW Auxiliary President’s Message
Hello everyone,
What a busy month we’ve had here at 4412. At our last meeting, we honored a Young
Marine, Henry Shoep, with a $500.00 scholarship. Henry is 17 years old. He has worked hard
with college credits on top of and early completion of High school credits. Henry has reached
the current rank of Young Marine Staff Sargent and still currently volunteers for community
service at various locations. He has also enlisted in the Marine Corps. He scored 96% on his
ASVAB test, and has been given any MOS of his choice. He is set to ship out in October after
completing his associate’s degree. Thank you to all of you that participated in making Henry and his family feel welcome.
On Feb. 13 th, the 4412 Riders had their annual Valentine’s Day poker run. What a great turn
out. The Riders and the Auxiliary worked side by side to make this event a success. Way to go
team! Our Steak Night Date Night dinner was a great success! JK Crum did a great job
entertaining everyone. We are considering having a once-a-month dinner with entertainment.
Let us know what you think.
On Feb. 17 th, we were honored with a visit from our VFW National Commander, State Commander, and District Commander. The Post and the Auxiliary provided a wonderful lunch in their Honor.
On March 17 th, Post 4412 will be celebrating ST. Patrick’s Day. We will be serving corned
beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and dessert for dinner. There will be music and Raffles. We
will be in need of volunteers for this event. Please watch for signup sheets on the door by the
pool table.
Our Friday night bake sales and 50/50 are doing great! We are always looking for bakers and
volunteers. If interested please see any auxiliary officer.
I would like to thank all of you who have volunteered you time, and those who have participated and supported our events. We couldn’t do what we do without you!
Proudly serving our Veterans,
Sheila Sweatland
Auxiliary President,
